The Story
Send Me Angels begins with an amazing journey. My husband and I have a phenomenal friend, Cindy Sterling, who has a true passion for helping others. She has helped many people through rough times especially her brother who was diagnosed with cancer but now fortunately is in remission.
In the fall of 2008, Cindy sent us a beautiful birthday invitation to her birthday lunch in San Antonio. What we did not expect were two $10 bills in the invitation that fell out. We wondered why on earth she gave us money for her own birthday lunch invitation. As we read the invitation, she said…if we were to attend we must give the money to someone who needs it. In addition, we must tell the story to her guests at her birthday lunch.
At that moment my husband and I were completely amazed by the heartfelt and generous action and idea. After several weeks pondering what do with the two $10 bills, I decided to frame two angel prints that I drew with Prisma pencil and donate them to an elderly care community center in my neighborhood.
From that moment I knew that I was about start a social business enterprise idea that involved angel artwork and the community. Through Cindy’s amazing idea, Send Me Angels was born.
I am blessed to have my wonderful husband, Lamar Romero, my family, and friends in continuing to support Send Me Angels.
